BEVERLY HILLS Residence

Hillside residences present a unique set of design challenges that require thoughtful, strategic solutions—and the Beverly Hills residence was no exception. Following the purchase of the property, the clients immediately enlisted UPON to address several pressing issues: a dense tangle of exotic, water-thirsty plants; large expanses of impervious concrete paving; and unstable slopes in need of erosion control. The clients envisioned a private Mediterranean garden enveloping the home, with space carved out for a small lawn and an intimate entertaining area—no small feat given the limited buildable area and steep rear slope. UPON responded with a design that balanced aesthetics and function, integrating erosion control strategies and reimagining the outdoor spaces. To guide guests through the home and toward the panoramic views beyond, UPON crafted a refined entry sequence that culminates at the pool deck. A custom privacy fence, pool fence, and a productive culinary garden were also incorporated into the comprehensive site plan, creating a cohesive and inviting hillside retreat.
